The empty riverbed – hiking to the source of the Thames River

This weekend we went to the source of the Thames River. It was a 12 miles hike from Criclade but we had to walk back and forth because we had to go back to our car. On the first day we walked from Cricklade to Ashton Keynes then we stayed in Cirencester. The accommodation wasn’t the best because it was a last-minute decision. We booked it on Friday…so it was pricey and in return, we got a small dirty room with two bunkbeds (ok, only the floor was dirty…). On the second day, we reached the source of the river. The only problem (it had its positive side though) was that after Ashton Keynes the riverbed was totally dried out. It was a nice hike though, we could walk in the “river”, the area is beautiful and it’s always better to be outside than inside. Ok, maybe not always, but most of the time.
